The brothers of IL-Gamma have recently returned to Monmouth’s campus for the Fall 2021 semester. The chapter is currently comprised of one continuing senior, three seniors, and four juniors. The brothers are excited to be back and engage in more social activities as guidelines are eased, and all of them have received Covid-19 vaccines. Monmouth College currently has an 81% Covid-19 vaccination rate among students, meaning all classes are being held in-person with masking enforced in all indoor facilities.
The brothers were also excited to move back to see that the chapter house, formerly known as Ross House, got a makeover during the summer, with the chapter’s title and Greek letters being placed on the front. The house is laid out apartment-style and can accommodate up to seventeen people. Currently, seven brothers reside in the house. One apartment acts as the chapter room, storing awards and ritual gear and also acting as a meeting room and a study area for the undergraduates.
Looking to the year ahead, the brothers are eager to participate in formal recruitment scheduled from August 30th to September 11th, as well as 365 Recruitment all year round. They hope to increase their numbers now that more students feel more comfortable interacting with others in social settings. The pandemic posed a significant challenge to recruitment for all Greek organizations last year, but the brothers hope to return to the numbers they had years prior.
