Multiple brothers were recognized for their academic achievements in the celebration of Monmouth College’s Scholars Day 2022, an annual tradition where classes are cancelled so that students can receive departmental and academic honors during a convocation ceremony and a poster presentation event.
At the Honors Convocation, Chaplain Joey Feenstra received the Gracie Peterson Showmanship Prize for excellence in instrumental musical performance. VP of Programming Drew Cliffel was recognized for his membership in Alpha Psi Omega, the theater honor society chartered on campus this year. VP of Finance Michael Gonzalez received the Japanese Award for outstanding work in Japanese for his tutoring.
VP of Communications Cullen Marshall received the Tri Beta Prize for best research project in biology, as well as the Charles & Ruth Huseman Award for a senior who best exemplifies the spirit of service to others. As President of Mortar Board Senior Honor Society, Cullen also introduced the new members of Mortar Board, which includes our very own VP of SLC Ty Otto, and presented the awards for Freshman and Senior Women of the Year.
Later during the research presentations, Drew presented his research on Hammerstein for his THEA-273 class, and Cullen presented his senior research on the NAT gene family for BIOL-450. Eli Kelly and Zach Lundquist provided entertainment for the event by performing live music as part of a trio.
