IL-Gamma’s president, Elijah Lind ’23, was recently awarded the 2022 Frank J. Ruck Leadership Award from Sigma Phi Epsilon National Headquarters. The award is given to chapters or individuals who show outstanding campus or community leadership and make significant positive changes on the campus/community as a whole. That pretty perfectly sums up Elijah, who was nominated for the award by one of his fellow brothers (and his little), Cullen Marshall.
Elijah was recognized for this award due to his involvement in several areas across campus, his dedication to the fraternity, and his embodiment of our cardinal principles of virtue, diligence, and brotherly love.
Elijah was surprised with the award at a chapter meeting, where members of IL-Gamma’s Alumni and Volunteer Corporation (AVC) and their advisor joined via Zoom. SigEp Grand Chapter President Billy Maddalon recorded a video congratulating Elijah, which the chapter watched as a group at the meeting.
The award is named after Past Grand President, Order of the Golden Heart recipient, and former president of the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), Frank J. Ruck Jr. (Michigan ’46). Ruck also served as a Navy Lieutenant and was a WWII veteran.
